Three men were busted by Worcester Police for teaming up in a grand-scale shoplifting operation at a local Target. According to a press release from the Worcester Police Department, officers responded to the scene on Lincoln Street, yesterday, after being tipped to several individuals hauling out hefty quantities of merchandise.
The accused thieves had already fled the scene in a white Toyota Camry by the time the cops arrived, but the gang didn't get far. Police managed to hunt down the vehicle and performed a traffic stop on Lincoln Street. The suspects got caught in a tight spot after officers inspected video evidence confirming their involvement in the retail heist.
Caught red-handed, George Gvelesiani, 35, of Philadelphia, Vakhtang Barkalaia, 41, of Brooklyn, and Giorgi Adeishvili, 41, of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, were slapped with multiple charges. The trio faces accusations of larceny over $1200, engaging in organized retail crime, and five counts related to the deactivation or removal of theft detection devices.
Details on the grand theft escapade were scarce, but the official announcement indicated that the suspects had purloined thousands of dollars worth of goods. It's a score that put them behind bars as they now wait to face the music for their alleged orchestration of an illicit shopping spree.
