A tragic accident occurred in Opa-locka when a 9-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle Friday night, in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and Sesame Street, the child, identified by family as Everett Fraizer was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital with his condition remaining unknown according to Shamika Bozeman, the boy's aunt, who told 7News from outside the hospital, "Got a call from my sister that my nephew got hit, and I rushed here, For him being 9 years old, that’s crazy".

The mother of the child, in a phone conversation with NBC6, said her son was on his bicycle when the incident occurred and she believes a Miami-Dade Transit bus was involved though this hasn't been officially confirmed by the authorities, footage from the scene showed a bus with a cracked windshield and the child's bicycle and shoes were seen strewn in the middle of the road which happened just before 8 p.m., and police had to close off the area to investigate what had unfolded there.

Opa-locka Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units were quick to respond after the incident witnesses at the scene claimed that the boy was crossing the street when he was hit, and although a Miami-Dade Transit bus was present with visible damage, the police have yet to verify if it was the bus or a different vehicle that struck Fraizer.

Investigations into the accident are ongoing with a section of Northwest 27th Avenue southbound near Sesame Street being shut down; as the community holds its breath, hoping for a swift recovery for young Everett, the resolution of this incident bears a significant weight not just for the family but for the collective conscience of everyone involved.
