An Arizona teenager's drive to make the world a greener place has landed her national acclaim and a solid chunk of change. Prisha Shroff, 17, from Chandler, has been named a Prudential Emerging Visionary, bagging a $5,000 award for her sustainability efforts, as reported by AZFamily.com. Shroff isn't just stopping at the cash prize; she's also scored an exclusive invite to a summit at the Prudential headquarters in Newark, New Jersey, later this year.

Shroff's brainchild, "Sustainability Stars," is a digital platform wielding the power of the youth to push forward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals aimed at tackling issues like climate change and inequality which has seen her conduct workshops with upwards of 1,000 students and set up high school clubs focusing on bringing these goals to life, during the summit, set for April 20-23, she will be amongst the select few to pitch their ideas where the top prize is an additional $10,000, according to PRNewswire.

The Prudential Emerging Visionary accolade shines a light on young individuals between 14 and 18 years of age who offer novel solutions to pressing financial and societal challenges in their communities; the program aims to further Prudential's mission of improving lives by addressing the financial hurdles of our evolving world. Charles Lowrey, Chairman and CEO, described the recipients, including Shroff as sources of inspiration owing to their unwavering dedication to positive community impact.

What sets Shroff apart is her initiative's distinct push to make the Sustainable Development Goals more youth-centric and -led, she was driven to action after discovering the SDGs and realizing every young person should be "aware of the SDGs, empowered to take action and given the support necessary to create solutions," this she has translated into tangible workshops and school clubs, all while equipping her peers with the resources needed to spearhead climate action, Prudential said in collaboration with Ashoka, a social impact sector leader, and with advice from the Financial Health Network.

As one of the leading lights in the Arizona youth activism scene, Shroff's "Sustainability Stars" goes far beyond raising awareness, it equips the next generation with the skills and connections to become actual climate change agents.
