A domestic dispute in Coral Springs has led to the arrest of a man for attempted strangulation of his estranged wife. Cesar Martinez Patino, 29, walked into the Coral Springs Police Department sporting visible scratch marks across his face, chest, and arm, seeking a restraining order against his wife. In an unusual twist, an investigation by authorities revealed a starkly different narrative, resulting in Patino's own arrest.
According to Coral Springs Talk, Patino arrived at the police department alleging that after a period of infidelity with his mistress and an ensuing confrontation, his wife had attacked him. However, the police report noted that he declined medical attention and did not wish to press charges. The situation took a serious turn when police contacted the victim, who had locked herself in the bedroom of their home, fearing for her life.
Upon arriving at the residence, officers found a scene consistent with the victim's account of being beaten and choked by Patino, who was reportedly angered after his mistress left him upon discovering he was married. The victim described a violent encounter with Patino that included being thrown onto a bed and strangled, with the altercation ending only when family members intervened.
Evidence at the scene and third-party witness accounts supported the victim’s claims, contradicting Patino's initial statement. As a result, Martinez Patino was treated for his injuries before being processed at the Coral Springs Police Department, and was later transferred to the Broward County Main Jail. Not long after, he was released on a $20,000 bond, as stated on Broward's mugshots zone.
