An experimental aircraft met its match with gravity Wednesday morning, creating quite the spectacle at Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, Arizona. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident, which occurred around 10:00 a.m., ended with the plane careening off course, though, fortunately, the two souls on board walked away without a scratch.
The Mesa Fire and Medical Department swiftly descended upon the area to snuff out a potential disaster after the plane sprung a fuel leak during the clumsy landing. The airport, stationed near McDowell and Greenfield Roads, witnessed emergency crews working diligently to contain the hazardous fluids, luckily, with no reports of fire or further injury. This information comes from Arizona's Family, who were on top of the scene.
Witnesses were left wide-eyed as the experimental plane intended to kiss the runway but instead bit the dust between the airfield's runways. Such an unwelcome surprise demands an explanation, and airport officials are not taking the mishap lightly. They're coordinating with the big guns – the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) – to unravel the cause of this misfortune.
While no injuries were a silver lining in this cloud of mechanical defiance, details remain scarce as to what led to the nosedive.
