Authorities in Goodyear are turning to the public for assistance to identify a man whose remains were discovered in the Gila River, the Goodyear Police Department confirmed. The body was found "in an advanced state of decomposition" on January 26, near Bullard Avenue as per ABC 15.
Police received the tragic news around 5 p.m., alerting them to the body. According to ABC 15, the man is suspected to be of Hispanic origin, aged between 40 and 60 years old, with a stature estimating from 5'5" to 5'9" tall.
At the scene, he was found clad in black and blue shoes, black jeans, and a black shirt. His identity, however, remains a mystery that the police are eager to solve. Although the exact cause of death is not yet known, the case is being treated as a homicide investigation.
Goodyear police together with the Maricopa County Examiner's Office are delving into the circumstances of the man's death. The authorities have urged anyone with information to step forward and contact Detective M. DeSimone at (623) 932-1220, to help bring closure to a case shrouded in unanswered questions.
