Residents of Orange Court in Hillsborough were on edge following an attempted burglary that was promptly interrupted when the intruder was discovered by a homeowner on February 10. According to the Hillsborough Police Department, a clothed man in all black and a mask broke into a home around 6:07 PM but fled through the backyard after encountering the resident.

With a response time that clocked in under a brisk two minutes, Hillsborough PD officers were quickly joined by their counterparts from San Mateo, Burlingame, and San Bruno departments, bringing in drones to aid in their search for the suspect—whom, it was determined, had already fled the area. As they canvassed the neighborhood, a perimeter around the property was established, snaking through the suburban peace.

The ongoing investigation sees the Hillsborough authorities scouring through data captured by local camera systems, including residential surveillance, in hopes of identifying the invader. They have put out a call to action for the community, asking for anyone with information on suspicious persons or vehicles that had been recently seen around Orange Court to come forward.

Lieutenant Melissa Colla of the Hillsborough Police Department made a public call to action, "If you observed any suspicious persons or vehicles recently in the area of Orange Court, please call our dispatch center."
