A tragic accident took place earlier today in Hollywood, Florida, leaving a pedestrian dead after an incident involving a Brightline train. The fatal event occurred near the intersection of Taft Street and the Florida East Coast Railway tracks, authorities said.
Hollywood Police, and, fire rescue teams responded to the scene where they found the victim's body. According to WSVN, the pedestrian was on the southbound side of the tracks when the train was passing through the area. The footage obtained by the news outlet showed the covered remains of the deceased.
"That's how I know," Jose Guzman recounted in a statement obtained by WSVN, describing the presence of the train by its prolonged horn blaring, which he suggested indicated an impending collision. The witness noted the absence of expected safety measures at the time, saying, "They got all these guards and rails but not this time, unfortunately."
The disruption also led to traffic delays in the vicinity of the accident. No other injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
