A Chicago man has been slapped with a felony charge after purportedly sticking up a local businessman, authorities announced Tuesday. Anthony Wooden, 39, of the 400 block of N. St. Louis in Chicago is accused of aggravated robbery following an incident earlier this year in which he allegedly hinted at possessing a firearm to carry out the theft.
The Chicago Police Department reports that Wooden was arrested on March 11, within the same district of the alleged crime, after being identified by the victim, a 48-year-old man. The crime occurred on January 22, inside a retail business located, in the 300 block of N. Central Avenue. Wooden is said to have implied he was armed with a weapon, before making off with an undisclosed sum of money.
Wooden now awaits a detention hearing following the formal charge of one felony count of aggravated robbery indicating armed with a firearm. The hearing is set for March 12 at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California Avenue. Chicago Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the robbery or the subsequent investigation leading up to the arrest of Wooden.
