Bullets flew in the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin District, leaving one person dead in a shooting that rumbled through Hallidie Plaza, police said Friday. The San Francisco Police Department disclosed that officers from the Tenderloin Station responded to the scene of the crime on Thursday night after reports of gunfire surfaced.
Around 9:29 p.m., law enforcement arrived to find a victim bludgeoned by a barrage of bullets and critically wounded. Despite the frantic efforts of officers and medics to stitch the veil between life and death, the individual was pronounced dead right there on the cold concrete. The identity of the victim has yet to be released as detectives burrow into the night's events. An SFPD Homicide Detail has taken the reins of the inquiry, the department stated.
The search for the perpetrator has now hit a wall with no suspects in handcuffs. The police are casting a wide net for clues and urging the public to come forward with any crumb of evidence that might lead to a break in the case. In their quest to piece together this puzzle, the San Francisco Police Department asks anyone with information to dial their Tip Line at 1-415-575-4444 or send a message beginning with SFPD to TIP411.
