A grizzly scene unfolded in Tamarac yesterday, when a pickup truck driver was killed after slamming into a tree. The single-vehicle wreck occurred on West Commercial Boulevard, not far from the intersection with Northwest 64th Avenue.
Emergency units from Lauderhill Fire Rescue were the first responders to the historical afternoon call, despite it happening within Tamarac's jurisdiction, as reported by Sun-Sentinel. They were later assisted by deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office, who are currently leading the investigation into the crash.
The deadly accident drew a response just past 2 p.m., according to CBS Miami News. Upon arrival, officials found that the driver of the truck had collided with a tree and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver had not yet been released by Sunday evening.
"The accident occurred west of the intersection of Commercial Boulevard and Northwest 64th Avenue," Lauderhill Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Levy informed by phone, with no further details about the incident being disclosed by a BSO dispatcher. The BSO's Traffic Homicide Unit has taken up the task of unravelling what led to the driver's fatal end.
