Hollywood police are urgently appealing to the public to help locate a hit-and-run driver who left a man dead early yesterday morning. The fatal crash, which involved a scooter rider, took place just before the morning rush at the intersection of Pembroke and South Park roads.
Local authorities have confirmed that the suspect's vehicle, a white Honda Civic with dark tinted windows, struck the victim from behind with such force that he was ejected from his scooter. Witnesses or those with relevant information are encouraged to come forward, as the driver failed to stop and provide aid, fleeing the scene immediately after the incident, as per Local 10.
The Hollywood Police Department has since released video footage hoping to rally community support in identifying the hit-and-run driver. The video captures a fleeting image of the suspect’s car streaking down the road. As detailed by HPD spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi in a statement obtained by Local 10, the vehicle likely sustained damage to its hood, front passenger-side bumper, and passenger-side mirror because of the impact.
The identity of the victim remains undisclosed as authorities perhaps work to notify next of kin. According to WSVN, the victim died on impact, and the cruel brevity of the hit-and-run has left the community and law enforcement with more questions than answers. Broward Crime Stoppers has become an avenue for anonymous tips, accessible at 954-493-8477, and possibly a key component in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
With the investigation ongoing, Hollywood police remain insistent on tracking down the individual responsible for this tragic incident. They are sifting through evidence and await the crucial tip-off that could close this case. Time is of the essence, and the Hollywood police are banking on community involvement to shed light on this dark occurrence.
