Early this morning, a horrendous crash occurred on Florida's Turnpike near Coconut Creek, resulting in one fatality and causing extensive traffic delays. The incident commenced when a Jeep Wrangler impacted a stationary Acura on the highway shoulder, leading to the Acura's driver, a 30-year-old woman from Panama City Beach, being declared deceased at the scene. Local 10 reported that the crash forcefully shut down the northbound lanes near Coconut Creek Parkway for a prolonged period.

The Florida Highway Patrol released details stating that the Jeep, helmed by a 31-year-old man from Coconut Creek, was improperly driving to on the shoulder. The vehicle failed to slow down, unfortunately slamming into the rear of the Acura. Following the collision, the Acura rotated, halting to face the opposite direction on the outer shoulder of the highway. The aftermath of the accident led to all northbound lanes being blocked, with traffic being diverted at Atlantic Boulevard. Broward County commuters were advised to consider using I-95 as an alternate route to bypass the congestion and ongoing investigation at the scene.
