Nashville authorities are on the hunt for a suspect following a brazen daylight shooting in a Food Lion parking lot in Donelson, which left a 58-year-old man injured, officials said. The incident unfolded around 3:45 p.m. on Monday when the masked shooter, described as a Black male in his 20s with short dreadlocks, a black hoodie, gray jeans, and a ski mask, confronted the victim during an attempted robbery, NewsChannel5 reported.

According to witnesses, the gunman loitered in the parking lot waiting for a target when he then tried to rob the man, who was shot in the jaw during the altercation the suspect fled the scene on foot, WKRN added. The victim, whose condition remains unknown, was quickly transported from the scene for medical attention as the search for the perpetrator continued.

After the shooting, the suspect attempted to carjack a woman in a Dodge Charger by running toward Bell Road, but when he failed to commandeer the vehicle, he dashed across the street to another area, escaping capture, WSMV stated. Police have not yet released additional details on the gunman's whereabouts, but they believe the act was targeting individuals in a vulnerable setting, attempting to seize their possessions.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information that might lead to an arrest, offering reassurances that all tips will be thoroughly investigated as they work to bring the perpetrator to justice.
