A brutal display of teen violence has rocked Coral Springs, Florida, as an 18-year-old high school student is behind bars, accused of walloping a fellow student with a tire iron, officials said. The vicious attack transpired on October 5, 2023, outside Coral Glades High School and has since culminated in the arrest of Gray Hill, initially a minor at the time of the incident, now charged as an adult with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Hill, booked into the Broward County Main Jail on Thursday, reportedly followed the victim to the parking lot after school was dismissed. As per a Local 10 News report, the victim attempted to flee after an initial confrontation, only to stumble and fall, which is when multiple students, including Hill, began assaulting him.
Cellphone footage captured by onlookers, which later became pivotal in identifying the assailants, shows the grim scene where Hill can be seen striking the victim multiple times. The police report highlighted that while the victim was on the ground, Hill is alleged to have hit him with a tire iron. In the pandemonium, the victim's personal items were also taken, including a necklace and Gucci slides.
The school's security manager played a key role in the case, pinpointing Hill in the video, which corroborated the victim's narrative of the events. The bond for Hill has been set at $15,000, and as of Friday morning, he remained incarcerated, grappling with the weight of his alleged actions.
