A Deerfield Beach man has been slapped with charges in the wake of a shooting that turned deadly at a Broward County sports bar last month. According to CBS News Miami, 32-year-old Brandon Roberts is accused of gunning down 26-year-old DeAndre Major outside Player's Sports Bar & Grill.
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff's Office, having worked the case diligently since the predawn violence on March 24, pinpointed Roberts as their prime suspect. WSVN reports that when deputies arrived on the scene at 5280 N. State Road 7, they discovered three victims with gunshot wounds, Major’s life was claimed at the scene, while the other two were rushed to the hospital with injuries deemed non-critical.
The arrest was made on Friday, March 29, with Roberts now facing a first-degree murder with a firearm charge in connection to Major's death, alongside one count of attempted murder with a firearm. The 32-year-old was booked into the county's main jail post-arrest. These events have sent ripples through the North Lauderdale community, with locals reeling from the brazen act of violence.
BSO detectives have encouraged anyone with additional details on the gruesome incident to come forward. Offering up to a $5,000 reward, Broward County Crime Stoppers remains available for tips, as they confirmed — people can provide information while retaining their anonymity.
