Tragedy struck a Plantation laundromat Monday night when an altercation turned deadly, leaving one person stabbed to death. Plantation Police are actively investigating the bloody encounter at the 24-hour Coin Laundry, located at 544 S. State Road 7. According to Local 10 News, Officer Chavez Grant, a spokesperson for the department, confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Details regarding the fatal incident are still vague, having left the laundromat's floor smeared with blood, which had to be cleaned up by the manager the following Tuesday. While patrons of the establishment are reeling from shock, one area worker disclosed that a fight broke out inside the business leading to the gruesome stabbing, Local 10 News reports. This claim, however, remains unverified by authorities.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public as the investigation continues. Witnesses across the street witnessed a commotion as law enforcement swarmed the laundromat. "There was a lot of flashing lights and they were just coming from all directions," according to a customer interviewed by NBC Miami.
Long-time Patron of the area, Jaheleazar Mann expressed his concerns, "It’s kind of eerie because this is the first time something like this has happened," he told Local 10 News. Noting his 20 years living in the vicinity, he added, "I don’t think it’ll be safe to be here at night alone." Plantation police are urging anyone with information to step forward and contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
