A 67-year-old man died over the weekend at the Texas Eclipse Festival. The unnamed man was hiking at Reveille Peak Ranch when he suffered a seizure early Saturday morning, the Burnet County Sheriff's Office stated, as per KXAN.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m., with no immediate evidence suggesting drug use, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. Event organizers decided to end the festival prematurely on Monday, citing potential severe weather as a major concern, according to MySA.
Despite the tragic incident, the festival drew a large crowd to Burnet County, with officials estimating at least 30,000 attendees, as reported by KXAN. The festival, which was set to continue through Tuesday, was shut down one day early due to safety reasons, and attendees were notified via the festival's website and social media platforms.
Those who remained at the festival were allowed to witness the total solar eclipse but were urged to plan their travels so they could leave directly after the event. Guests received details of a partial refund policy through email, which the Burnet County Sheriff's Office mentioned in a traffic advisory.
