A routine afternoon erupted into chaos Tuesday when a man was shot near the Plaza Hotel Fort Lauderdale, according to local police. Fort Lauderdale authorities and fire rescue teams were dispatched to the hotel located at 5100 N. State Road 7, after reports of gunfire around 1:30 p.m., NBC Miami reported.
Hitting the scene, officers found the wounded victim and provided immediate medical care until further assistance arrived. Having stayed at the scene, the suspected shooter was swiftly taken into custody by the Fort Lauderdale Police, with parts of the hotel's lot cordoned off by crime scene tape, aerial footage confirmed by WSVN showed.
The injured party, whose identity and condition remain unreleased, was spotted being loaded into the back of a fire rescue vehicle. Subsequently, he was transported to Broward North Health for treatment. As the suspect was handcuffed in the hotel's parking lot, 7Skyforce hovered over, capturing the aftermath of the incident.
While details leading up to the shooting are still under wraps, Fort Lauderdale Police are actively investigating what transpired on that fateful afternoon. No one involved in the incident, neither the suspected gunman nor the victim, have been publicly identified as of now.
