A car barreled into a North Lauderdale laundromat on Friday, causing a stir but miraculously resulting in no injuries, authorities said. The spectacular smash occurred at a strip mall located at 943 SW 71st Ave. and prompted a rapid response by North Lauderdale Fire Rescue teams, according to WSVN.

Footage from the scene showed police cordoning off the area as firefighters and paramedics attended the scene. The elderly male driver, whose car ended up sticking out of the laundromat, appeared bewildered by the incident and was whisked away to a hospital to be checked out. The driver, who was not immediately identified, was said to have seemed confused at the time of the rescue, Local10 reported.

The City of North Lauderdale confirmed that, fortunately, no one inside the laundromat was injured during the incident. The business was noticeably damaged, with part of the vehicle visible from the outside and shards of glass and debris littering the ground.

As safety remains a concern, the building is slated for a structural evaluation to assess the extent of the damage done by the crash. In the meantime, the area around the laundromat was taped off as officials conducted their investigation and commenced cleanup efforts. "The driver seemed confused and was transported to the hospital as a precaution," personnel from North Lauderdale Fire Rescue was quoted by Local10.
