A South Florida man has landed in hot water after allegedly tucking hidden cameras in the men's bathrooms at several YouFit gyms, capturing more than 400 clandestine videos of unsuspecting patrons, as per law enforcement sources. Bernardo Reyes Lopez Santiago, 30, from Pompano Beach, was nabbed last Wednesday and consequently slammed with a hefty $50,000 bail. The clandestine filming spree spanned across multiple YouFit locations in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, as reported by NBC Miami.

The lurid scandal unfolded last September when a YouFit employee stumbled upon a spy cam stashed under a sink in a handicapped bathroom stall. Boynton Beach Police have since poured over footage, spotting nearly 130 victims, including minors between ages 13 and 17. "All of the videos captured the victims dressing, undressing, or privately exposing the body," the arrest report detailed. According to an investigation led by the Boynton Beach Police, Santiago's digital fingerprints were all over the footage, revealing check-ins at the gyms on days leading up to the camera's discovery, according to WPTV.

Santiago's cover was reportedly blown when investigators retrieved the first images from the camera showing him conducting a "test run." Cops claim they caught Santiago red-handed using his cell phone "in what appeared to be the set up and the verification of the recording device placement," during the dry run. The surreptitious recording began on July 11, 2023, and was halted abruptly on September 11 when the camera was spotted by an employee.

In response to the harrowing invasion of privacy, Santiago was barred from setting foot in any YouFit gyms or other fitness establishments and will face the music during his next court sitting scheduled for June. His alleged spree has cast a shadow over the communal trust embodied by fitness centers, where patrons seek refuge and rejuvenation, yet they found vulnerability and violation. "He faces video voyeurism charges," as disclosed in a statement obtained by NBC Miami.
