In a grim discovery, Hayward police located two gunshot victims in a parked car on the 3000 block of W. Winton Avenue yesterday evening. A 31-year-old woman was found dead at the scene, and a 36-year-old man died after being rushed to the hospital, marking the city's third homicide of the year.

Responding to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 6:24 p.m., officers discovered the female victim in the front passenger seat and the male in the driver's seat, both with gunshot wounds. As per the official Hayward PD release, the identities of the deceased are being held pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities found a handgun at the scene, and according to witnesses, an argument between the victims preceded the fatal shooting. Investigators are now working to determine the nature of their relationship and whether the incident was a murder-suicide as currently suspected.

Details are scarce as the Hayward Police Department continues its inquiry into the tragic events.
