A Tuesday evening fire in Clackamas has left several residents without homes after a three-story apartment building on Southeast Talbert Street was engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Clackamas County Fire Department responded to the emergency call at approximately 8:26 p.m., tackling the blaze that threatened occupants and property at the 9956 Southeast Talbert Street location.
The arriving crews were met with anxious evacuees; individuals on the second floor frantically made their way out of the burning complex, while firefighters readily assisted a person still inside on the first floor, avoiding what could have been a more disastrous scenario. Despite the intense situation, by 9:01 p.m., the fire was declared “under control” and subsequently, by 9:33 p.m. it had “been extinguished” according to an update from the fire officials, as reported by KOIN 6 News.
In a testament to the swift response, Izak Hamilton, a spokesperson for Clackamas Fire, relayed to KOIN 6 News that no injuries were sustained and that at least four apartments were caught up in the incident, their residents' lives upended as investigators circle the cause of the fire which remains yet to be determined.
