Miami residents brace for another sweltering day as early Tuesday temperatures in South Florida have already hit the 80s. Forecasts suggest spikes into the low-mid 90s for afternoon highs, with "feels like" numbers soaring above 100 degrees, as per NBC Miami.
Along with the heat, there's a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms; about half could get wet, and this may well affect the evening rush hour, the outlet cautions. Tomorrow might just mirror today, according to National Weather Service, but relief could be coming later in the week as a front dips south promising to cool things down a notch, maybe even usher in highs that barely break the 80s and offering a dip in humidity, which would be a welcome switch from the current mugginess and heat.
The National Weather Service confirms that Miamians will see a 60% chance of precipitation today, with possible thunderstorms rolling in post-3pm and continuing into the night, while the Heat Index hits highs of up to 103, these conditions will persist through the week with Thursday having a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms and Friday coming in with a similar forecast.
For now, the jacket stays in the closet but keep an umbrella handy: showers are likely to make an appearance alongside roaring thunderstorms, particularly before the 3 a.m. mark tonight and then again after 2 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, tonight's partly cloudy skies won't do much to stave off the lingering South wind of 5 to 7 mph, and while the heat index might scream a sizzling tale of Florida's early summer, it seems the thunder will roar just as loudly, signaling an ongoing dance between the blaze of the sun and the rumble of storms till the weekend, at least.
