
A crash between two personal watercraft in Miami's Biscayne Bay on Thursday afternoon resulted in one woman being hospitalized, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Emergency responders were quick to arrive at the southeast side of Osprey Island, near North Bay Village, after the accident was reported just before 3 p.m., Local 10 News reported.
The victim, whose condition has not been disclosed, was seen conscious and speaking to rescue crews as she was loaded onto a stretcher, WSVN 7News captured on camera. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's boats were also seen on site, indicating a thorough search and investigation was underway, the cause of the collision, however, remains unknown.
Images taken from 7Skyforce showed a widespread response by rescue teams, with MDFR boats combing the area around the incident. This comes amidst a busy period for watercraft activities in the bay as the Miami summer approaches.
Information regarding the exact details of the crash remain limited as MDFR continues its investigation into the accident. The identity of the woman, as well as the circumstances leading up to the collision, have yet to be clarified by authorities.
