In an early morning ceremony in Doral, the Miami-Dade Police Department added 53 new officers to its ranks. According to WSVN, the graduation marked not only a significant step for the individuals who completed 39 weeks of rigorous academic and physical training but also a historic moment for the department, as this will be the last class to graduate from the Miami-Dade Police Department Academy before it transitions to the sheriff’s office.

Reflecting on the significance of the graduation, Miami-Dade Police Department Director Stephanie Daniels expressed a personal sentiment, "I’ve done a couple of these graduations over the last couple of months, and, I must tell you that this is the one that I’m most proud of, because we’re making history today," she said. Daniels highlighted the academy's history and the transition awaiting these officers, "Today is the last graduating [class from] Miami-Dade Police Department Academy. Come January, when the next class comes out, they’re gonna be part of the sheriff’s office, so I’m very proud of these 53 officers who are joining our team today," as reported by WSVN.

The newly minted officers joined the ceremony after completing a curriculum that included patrol procedures, criminal law, firearms training, and crisis intervention. The training aims to prepare them for an array of scenarios they might encounter while serving the community. A statement from the Miami-Dade Police Department, shared via their official X account celebrated the event, "This morning, we welcomed 53 new officers to the #MDPD family as they graduated from #BLE142. Together they will join the men and women of the Miami-Dade Police Department who are dedicated to serving and protecting #OurCounty. Congratulations!"
