An Indianapolis man has been arrested following a road rage incident where he allegedly opened fire on a semi-truck driver on Interstate 70. The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Gregory Davis, was apprehended in Hancock County after Indiana State Police were notified of the shooting FOX59 reported.
Davis was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after troopers located his vehicle west of Mt. Comfort Road. During the traffic stop, officers were able to quickly discover a gun in the car, which they believed to have been used in the shooting. The arrest occurred without incident, and Davis was subsequently taken to the Hancock County Jail. According to a WTHR report, a detective met with the semi's driver following the incident, who mercifully was unharmed, though the semi itself sustained apparent gunshot holes on its passenger side.
The alarming event marks a growing trend of violence on the roads around Indianapolis. "ISP: Road rage leads to shots fired at semi on Indiana interstate," as WANE highlights, this was the 40th incident of gunfire on Indianapolis-area interstates this year alone. In comparison, last year saw a total of 55 interstate shootings in the district—a troubling trajectory when considering the tally is not even fully halfway through the current year.
