A shooting on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Saturday night has left an adult male injured. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the scene at the 800 block of Udell Street shortly before 10:45 p.m., following a report of the incident. Upon their arrival, police located the man with wounds consistent with a gunshot injury. FOX59 reported that the victim, while stable now, had little information to offer about the circumstances leading to the shooting.
IMPD officers were told by the victim that the altercation did not occur on Udell Street, but further west "past the liquor store,” told to 13News by IMPD Captain Don Weilhammer. A disturbance just west of the location where the victim was found appears to be connected to the shooting. The area in question is near the intersection of W. 29th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street. Initially thought to be critically injured, the victim later achieved a stable condition during transport to Eskenazi Hospital, with details obtained by WTHR.
Authorities are still piecing together the events and have yet to determine precisely where the altercation took place. WRTV reported that, upon their arrival just after 10:30 p.m., officers located the victim already suffering from the gunshot injury.
