A tragic incident unfolded in Fulton County when a Rochester man lost his life in a vehicular collision. The crash, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon, involved two vehicles and resulted in serious injuries and a fatality. According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, just after 4 p.m., law enforcement from the Indiana State Police and Fulton County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the site near 4960 North Old US 31 in Rochester.
Upon their arrival, responders discovered that 23-year-old Quinton Sayger, a Rochester resident, had been involved in a head-on collision. Sayger, while operating a Buick southbound on Old U.S. 31, veered left of center and collided with a northbound Dodge. Both vehicles were rendered inoperative and came to a halt following the impact. Sayger was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, as reported by WISH-TV. The identification of the second driver, a 37-year-old Plymouth man, was not immediately available.
The aftermath of the incident saw the Dodge's driver airlifted to a nearby hospital with injuries labeled as serious but non-life-threatening. Current reports indicate that neither alcohol nor narcotics are suspected to have played a role in the causation of this devastating event. The family of Mr. Sayger has been duly notified, as detailed in a second article by WISH-TV.
Authorities are continuing their inquiry to understand the dynamics that led to the crash. Meanwhile, the community is left grappling with the reverberations of this abrupt loss. As investigations carry on, further details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the precursors to this tragedy. More information will be disclosed as the investigation progresses according to WNDU.
