San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has confirmed the charges brought against Jose Adrian Flores Garcia, aged 28, in what has been described as a drive-by shooting that occurred on a Muni bus. According to the San Francisco District Attorney's press release, Garcia is facing one count of murder and one count of discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle, among other alleged offenses. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment on July 30.
The incident on June 18, shortly after 11 pm, quickly escalated when the victim boarded the Muni bus with two friends. DA Jenkins expressed her condolences to the victim's kin, stating, as per the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, "The cold-blooded killing and use of public transportation to flee the scene in this case is chilling. Although nothing we do can bring the victim back, my office will do everything in our power to fight for justice in this case." Following the victim's departure from the bus at Mission Street and Silver Avenue, Garcia is accused of having suddenly opened the window, fired upon the victim, and instructed the bus driver to drive away.
Local authorities apprehended Garcia last Thursday after the San Francisco Police Department investigated. The San Francisco Police Department has called for the public’s assistance in the ongoing investigation. If anyone has information, they are urged to either call the SFPD Tip Line or Text a Tip following the instructions provided by the District Attorney's Office.
