A recent update from the NWS Nashville office details a predictable pattern of partly sunny mornings giving way to increased chances of precipitation as the days progress.
Beginning today, there's a solid 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after the early afternoon. With humidity hovering at 100 percent in the morning and a reported visibility of just 4 miles due to fog and mist, conditions could complicate both the morning commute and any outdoor plans. Showers and thunderstorms are "likely" between 3 pm and 4 pm, then expected to increase after 4 pm according to the NWS.
Tonight, the risk of showers and thunderstorms drops slightly to 50 percent. Fog is expected to redevelop after midnight, perhaps obscuring roads until morning. Temperature lows will hover around 70 degrees Fahrenheit with light winds from the north-northeast, which might provide a mild respite from the day's earlier mugginess.
Looking to Monday and beyond, the daily chance of showers and thunderstorms ripples through the NWS forecast, with probabilities dancing between 30 and 70 percent. Periods of patchy fog early in the mornings remain a consistent note, lifting before the full heat of the day takes hold. As the week progresses, high temperatures are slated to reach the high 80s, with a peak near 91 on Saturday, all while carrying chances of thunderstorms along with them.
Despite the damp outlook, substantial rain accumulation doesn't seem to be on the horizon. The NWS anticipates "new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible" today, with less significant totals on following days unless bolstered by thunderstorm activity.
