Florida this weekend, the 38th annual Tampa General Hospital Loggerhead Triathlon is set to welcome a slew of participants of various ages and backgrounds. With the event taking place today, the family-friendly competition is ready to draw more than just individual athletes; it's a generational affair for the Reback family from Palm Beach Gardens, which boasts 16 members spanning a wide age range all geared up to swim, bike, and run their way through Carlin Park.

As reported by WPTV, the Rebacks have been partaking in this triathlon for over three decades. Such events are reflective of traditions, where kinship meets the thrill of competition, as they work, in unison to claim family bragging rights. The eldest of the clan, 83-year-old Paul Reback, has been a stalwart participant, having joined in almost every race the triathlon has seen. Organizers are prepping for a bustling turnout with over 400 participants expected to attempt the 3/8-mile ocean swim, a 13-mile bike, and a flat 3.1-mile run.

For spectators wanting to watch or cheer on their loved ones, they have been advised to arrive before 6:30 a.m. and can use the Carlin Park parking facilities until that time. After the cutoff, parking shifts to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, per organizer guidelines. Registration for those looking to take part at the last minute is open until 11:59 p.m. this night, just hours before the athletes set off on their multifaceted challenge.

However, residents and visitors should be aware of road closures surrounding the event. According to a Town of Jupiter advisory, A1A from Donald Ross Road to Jupiter Beach Road, along with Jupiter Beach Road, Ocean Trail Way, and Dubois Road will be shut down from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on race day. This temporary alteration to the daily flow will undoubtedly affect, both those participating and the broader community seeking to navigate around Jupiter's picturesque coastal landscape.
