In the quiet of the pre-dawn hours on a Wednesday, a collision on State Route 177 in Kaysville turned fatal for one driver, with the aftermath remaining unnoticed for several hours. This grim incident involved two vehicles that crashed near 200 North, as per ABC4, citing the Department of Public Safety's preliminary investigation. A Chevy truck, for reasons not yet known, veered onto the gravel before overcorrecting and careening across the median, rolling over into the southbound lanes. The time was approximately 1:30 a.m.
Unseen by the early responders, an additional scene lay in the darkness, only brought to light as the sun drew its first breath at the onset of a new day. Discovered 1,000 feet from the initial crash site, a Ford F-150 had collided with the overturned Chevrolet before running off the road and through a fence, stripped of its electrical life in the process. FOX13 reported how the officers, initially focused on the Chevy's driver hospitalized from the wreck, had missed the shadowed Ford.
The Chevy's driver had been transported for medical care, but the Ford's occupant had not been so fortunate. A passerby, upon noticing the disabled Ford F-150 amidst the dawn's light, made the call that brought officers to the second tragic tableau of the night’s events. It was then that the grim discovery was made, the driver of the Ford was found deceased. The updated scene was first reported by a commuter after the accident scene was previously cleared, as per FOX13.
KSL TV noted that Chevy's swerve back into traffic led to an overcorrection, bringing the vehicle to overturn and end its journey in the opposing lanes. Concurrently, the Ford F-150, finding its path intercepted by the Chevy, struck the overturned vehicle and met its end after barreling through a fence, a thousand feet further down the highway, as the vehicle's lights, and more, were extinguished.
