
Five individuals, including three juveniles and two adults, were hospitalized yesterday after an electric shock incident in a Logansport swimming pool. The Logansport Police Department dispatched officers to the 2600 block of High Street at approximately 2:35 p.m., confirming the injuries sustained by the swimmers, among them no juvenile was older than 16 years of age, as reported by FOX59.
Initial assessments indicated that an electrical wire associated with a pool pump was compromised; a protective cover was broken when the wire was pinched, leading to the wire's exposure and the subsequent electrification of pool water, this information comes from a statement obtained by WTHR. While all five individuals were taken to a local hospital for treatment, two of the juveniles required transfer to different facilities for further medical attention; however, there were no fatalities resulting from this event, the police stress that there was no criminal activity suspected at this juncture.
Described as a "freak accident" by authorities in a statement to WOWO, the situation generated a rapid response from emergency medical teams, and police officers who arrived to the scene were met with the immediate, urgent need to address the victims of this sudden electrocution in the residential area located near 26th Street and Davis Road, south of the Eel River.
