Lawrence, Indiana is gearing up to bring a touch of Bavaria to the Midwest with the 7th annual 'Lagers in Lawrence' Oktoberfest, a celebration of craft beers and German culture set to take place on September 21. The city of Lawrence and Indiana On Tap have announced that this year's festivities will sprawl across the scenic Fort Ben Cultural Campus, a locale beloved for its blend of history, art, and nature, according to the official announcement on the City of Lawrence website.
From 2 pm to 6 pm, attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in unlimited pours from a selection of more than 100+ craft beverages. Not just lagers, but a wide range of beer styles, will be featured, ensuring that there's something for every palate. In addition to the liquid refreshments, the event promises an abundance of pretzels, perfect for soaking up some of that hoppy goodness.
The organizers are bringing back one of Indy's top DJs to entertain the crowd with a mix of dance favorites and traditional Oktoberfest and polka hits. An infusion of musical energy that's sure to get attendees dancing, or at the very least, tapping their foot to the rhythm.
Food enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of vendors offering delicious eats to complement the beer sampling. Also making a return this year is the Oktoberfest-style Weiner Dog Racing, adding a dose of adorable competition to the mix. The 'Running of the Weiners,' featuring dachshunds from around central Indiana, is set to be a highlight, with the charming spectacle culminating in a championship heat to crown the 'Fastest Weiner.' "Trust us--if you've never seen it, you don't want to miss it," reads the excitement-laden invitation from the City of Lawrence official statement.
Tickets for the event are now on sale, and those interested in partaking in this unique blend of German tradition and local flavor can secure their spot by visiting the event's website.
