A West Noble Middle School educator found himself on the other side of the law when Indiana State Police arrested him on child pornography charges, officials said Monday. Greg Riegsecker, a 57-year-old from Ligonier, faces one count of possession of child pornography, a Level 5 felony, and two counts of possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony. Information from WANE outlined that Riegsecker had been placed on administrative leave by the district following the discovery.
Additionally, the Indiana State Police began their investigation after receiving a pertinent tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children or NCMEC. According to the details given, by a WFFT report, troopers executed a search warrant at Riegsecker’s home. Riegsecker, a sixth-grade science and civics teacher, is in Noble County Jail waiting for a court hearing.
Investigators believe that no local children were involved or depicted in the illicit material, a crucial detail to note regarding the impact on the small community. "However, it should also be noted that the investigation has not revealed any evidence at this time that would suggest any local children were involved or depicted in the alleged crimes," stated a news release acquired by WISH-TV.
The investigation is still ongoing, highlighting the need for vigilance even in small towns like Ligonier. He is scheduled for an initial court hearing on Wednesday afternoon at the Noble County Courthouse in Albion.
