A Nashville man has been detained, marking his third encounter with the law since May over allegations of auto theft and related crimes. According to Metro Nashville Police, Derryon Lyons, 21, was captured Tuesday after purportedly being caught on surveillance footage from a 3rd Avenue South parking garage burglarizing vehicles and absconding with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, as reported by WKRN.

Detectives linked the stolen Jeep to Lyons and, through the course of their investigation, recovered the vehicle along with a firearm that had been reported stolen in a separate vehicle burglary on County Hospital Road, on July 23. "Lyons is being held under a $90,000 bond on charges of auto theft, gun theft, and four counts of auto burglary," WSMV disclosed, detailing the current charges that have placed Lyons back into custody.

At the time of the latest arrest, Lyons was out on bail from a previous July 13 incident where he allegedly evaded arrest, tampered with evidence, and was unlawfully in possession of a gun after a police officer attempted to stop him. Upon his arrest that day Lyons had already been out on a $1,500 bond for a separate May 2 domestic assault case, stated a Fox17 report.

Further establishing the pattern of repeat offenses, a search on Tuesday at Lyons' residence led to the discovery of yet another firearm and items reportedly taken in an additional vehicle burglary that occurred on Sunday. The operations ensnaring Lyons are part of MNPD's "Operation 72," a precision initiative targeting vehicular crime that has, since February, resulted in the recuperation of 346 stolen vehicles and 131 weapons—effectively causing a month-to-month decrease in auto thefts when compared to the previous year.
