A man wanted in New Jersey for rape charges was arrested in Lebanon, Tennessee, aided by license plate reader technology. The Lebanon Police Department stated that the arrest took place after they received a tip from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. According to FOX 17, the suspect was apprehended in the vicinity of Murfreesboro Road and Interstate 40.
Law enforcement was quickly able to locate the man's vehicle near a Mapco on South Cumberland Street. "Officers promptly began canvassing the area and soon located the suspect’s vehicle near the Mapco on Murfreesboro Rd,” stated the Lebanon Police Department in a Facebook post, as quoted by WKRN News 2. To successfully make an arrest, the officers confirmed the suspect was eligible for extradition with their dispatch team.
The identity of the suspect has not been released to the public, according to Lebanon Police. This was echoed by WKRN News 2, who reported the arrest occurred without any issues.
