A community in Pompano Beach grieves the loss of Keith Poole, a father whose life was cut tragically short outside his own home. According to CBS News Miami, Poole, 44, was found shot multiple times on Monday. Bridgett Donovan, who dated Poole on and off for over a decade, said, "He was such a people person, everybody loved him, and he would give the shirt off of his back for anyone." The Broward Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting call at the 1500 block of Northeast 28th Street minutes before 5 p.m.

The suspected shooter, identified as Poole's daughter's boyfriend, had reportedly been asked to leave Poole's residence after a firearm was discovered in the home. The family now says, the man, who was taken in by Poole and treated like a son, is responsible for his death. According to Donovan's words to CBS News Miami, "The boy pulled out the gun and shot him in the neck and chest." The victim's godmother, Barbara Santiago, told NBC6 that the fatal altercation came after Keith found a weapon in his home and demanded the boyfriend to leave.

Following the incident, Poole's daughter and her boyfriend fled the scene, igniting concern among family members for her safety. Donovan expressed the family's fear, stating that they have not been in contact with her and believed she might be in danger. However, as of yesterday afternoon, the Broward Sheriff's Office confirmed that Poole's daughter returned home safe, although the boyfriend remains at large. Santiago recounted the harried escape to NBC6, saying, "I couldn’t imagine what she was feeling at the time, fear, she left with a bra, shorts, no shoes, no phone."

The investigation continues as law enforcement officials are on the lookout for the boyfriend, who was seen last running off with after the shooting. While no arrests have been made, the community along with Poole's grieving family are seeking justice for a man described as the "last of a dying breed," as reported by CBS News Miami. Individuals with any information regarding this case are encouraged to come forward and can contact police anonymously.
