
A tragic scene unfolded in Roy on Monday evening when a 65-year-old man using a walker was fatally injured by a car while crossing within a marked crosswalk. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the 1900 W. 5600 South intersection during a busy rush hour filled with the added chaos of construction, the Roy Police Department noted the signal to walk was reportedly on for the pedestrian at the time of the collision, as per KSL.
Witnesses at the scene and other drivers stopped due to the traffic light quickly leaped into assistance, with a highway patrol trooper who was nearby commencing CPR until paramedics could take over the man was transported to McKay-Dee Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later, clearly delineated accounts provided by local news outlets such as KSLTV echo the shocking swiftness of response from civilians and officers alike.
