Early yesterday morning, gunshots were reported near UC Berkeley’s Clark Kerr and Hill campuses, prompting an immediate response from the University of California Police Department (UCPD) at 7:40 a.m. No injuries were reported, but the incident led to an active search involving multiple law enforcement agencies, according to UC Berkeley.

The suspect, described as a white male with bleached hair and possibly red or orange highlights, wearing a black shirt, black pants, and a red backpack, triggered a lockdown at the Hill campus as officers searched the area. The UC Berkeley Emergency Operations Center was activated, and WarnMe messages were sent to alert the campus community to avoid the area or shelter in place.

By 1:42 PM, the lockdown was lifted after an extensive search, and authorities determined there was no longer a threat to campus. With the fall semester starting soon, UCPD is encouraging anyone with information to contact them, as the campus begins to return to normal with heightened awareness following the incident.
