Tragedy struck Broward County on Sunday afternoon as a violent crash involving three vehicles claimed the lives of at least two individuals and left several others with varying degrees of injuries. As reported by NBC Miami, the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest Sixth Street in unincorporated Broward. Responders swiftly took several people to Broward Health Medical Center, where two were pronounced dead.
The scene was a canvas of destruction, with one of the vehicles, a light-colored Tesla, and a black Dodge Durango being thrown forcefully enough to break into a nearby cemetery, as revealed by WSVN. The Tesla suffered significant damage to its front side, and the Durango was visibly marred on one side. In addition to these two, a sedan was also involved, found overturned amidst the chaos of the accident.
First responders on site had to navigate through a tense and urgent situation. "So far, I've got one trauma code, two Level I traumas, one is probably going to be a Level II. I need at least four rescues right now," said a first responder in radio transmissions, indicating the severity of the incident. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials confirmed that six adults were transported to the medical center as trauma alerts, their conditions serious to critical.
The site was quickly cordoned off by deputies as investigators worked to painstakingly reconstruct the events that led to the crash. Roads surrounding the intersection were shut down to aid the investigation, but have since been reopened. Moreover, first responders had to cut through a fence to gain access to the cemetery, showcasing their determination to reach every impacted individual as quickly as possible. As of Monday morning, authorities have yet to provide concrete updates about the total number of victims surviving or their current conditions.
