A tragic incident unfolded outside of a Miami pharmacy on Monday afternoon when a young girl was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle. The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. in front of the Navarro Discount Pharmacy located at 2120 SW 32nd Ave, as stated by local authorities and reported by Local 10.
The child, a 7-year-old, was rendered unconscious from the impact and subsequently taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. In a heart-rendering community response, witnesses reported that bystanders lifted the SUV off the girl after an older woman, who was behind the wheel of the Nissan Rogue, apparently lost control and drove into the building. One witness expressed his concern to Local 10, saying, "I believe that as we grow older, there are certain people that need to reevaluate their skills, especially when they’re driving. As a parent and as a grandfather, you know, my heart goes out to the family."
The driver of the Nissan Rogue remained at the scene following the incident, cooperating with law enforcement. Details regarding what precipitated the crash and whether or not the driver will face any charges remain unclear as the investigation continues.
