
A wildfire that erupted close to Cedar City's airport on Thursday necessitated the evacuation of local businesses as it rapidly spread, posing a considerable threat to the proximate industrial landscape. According to FOX13, two firefighters and a civilian, now confirmed to be in stable condition, were transported to the hospital after sustaining injuries in the blaze, the nature and severity of which were not disclosed.
Authorities disclosed that the fire, containing chemical elements, began near the 700 North block of 2325 West before 1:45 p.m., conditions accelerated its expansion, placing several businesses in jeopardy, the Cedar City Police disclosed their concerns on social media while fire crews battled to halt its forward march and preserve structures, it was a battle against the clock and the elements. As reported by ABC4, crews had stopped the wildfire's progression by approximately 3:45 p.m. Thursday and were focused on handling affected commercial structures.
In response to the critical situation, a substantial mutual aid system was enacted, involving collaborations between the Kanarraville, Paragonah, Parowan, and Brian Head Fire Departments, along with Forestry Fire and State Lands Fire – as a Facebook post by Cedar City Police highlighted. Affected personnel were promptly attended at Cedar City Hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment.
