A fatal hit-and-run incident is currently under investigation on Indianapolis' west side, leaving the authorities in pursuit of a suspect. According to FOX59, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to reports of a personal injury hit-and-run on the 2300 block of S. Lynhurst Drive at around 9:40 p.m. yesterday night. Tragically, the collision resulted in the death of an unidentified woman who was walking on the side of the road when struck by a vehicle.
IMPD confirmed that the victim, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, later succumbed to her injuries. As authorities began to piece together the events, a blue Toyota sedan with potential front-end damage emerged as a key focus of the investigation. Seeking leads, IMPD is asking for the public's assistance, particularly any surveillance footage of the incident. According to WISH-TV, the woman was walking on the street at the time of the accident.
Adding to the details, WTHR notes witnesses at the scene described seeing a woman being hit by a truck as she attempted to retrieve something from the roadway. Consequently, a portion of Lynhurst Drive between Kelly Street and Bradbury Avenue was sealed off, as the IMPD conducted their fieldwork in the aftermath of the earlier events.
