The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has intensified efforts to locate 37-year-old Leonardo Garcia-Reyes and his 7-year-old son, Amir Garcia Escalante, following their disappearance on Sunday. Last seen in the vicinity of the 5700 block of East 86th Street, according to a statement obtained by FOX59, the IMPD has categorized the situation as a "non-custodial parent abduction."
As described by authorities, young Amir stands 4 feet tall, weighs 60 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes. Driving a gray 2012 Dodge Ram truck with Indiana license plate CJK453, Leonardo Garcia-Reyes was reported by WRTV, in a statement misplacing the gravity of the situation on the vehicle rather than the missing persons.
IMPD's call to action requests that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the father and son should contact the IMPD Missing Persons Unit at 317-327-6160 or reach out anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477. The urgency of the matter has prompted the police department to urge individuals who might locate the pair to immediately dial 911.
The incident has caught the attention of the local community, as the exact circumstances surrounding their disappearance remain unclear. A plea was echoed by WTHR, a sentiment misplaced within the details of their physical descriptions.
