Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) recently reported a significant development in an ongoing homicide case. According to FOX59, IMPD officers detained 21-year-old Gershom Hannah on Friday in connection with the April murder of 16-year-old Keith Louis Ray. The shooting, which took place on the near northwest side of Indianapolis, has now led to charges of felony murder, attempted murder, and robbery against Hannah.
A person walked into Methodist Hospital shortly after the initial incident with a critical gunshot wound. IMPD detectives connected this shooting to another event, suggesting the incidents were related. According to the official Facebook account of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, it appears the shootings were part of an attempted robbery that ended fatally. Reports indicate that the deceased teen and Hannah allegedly tried to rob the gun from the second shooting victim. Another man, 22-year-old Rayvonce Norris, attempted to evade the police during the investigation but was quickly apprehended after a short-foot pursuit. Norris now faces charges for possession of narcotics and resisting law enforcement. The arrests conducted by the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit point towards a firm response to the crimes that took place on that April evening.
While Hannah is being held accountable for the shooting, a second individual faced a different legal challenge. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office now bears the responsibility to make the final charging decisions, as per WISH-TV. Authorities underscore that Hannah, like all individuals in the legal system, should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
