A rideshare driver was arrested for the murder of local woman Chanti Dixon, 30. Francisco Valadez, 29, was taken into custody on murder charges by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Dixon's body was found Monday on the near southeast side, according to WISH-TV.
After Dixon was reported missing earlier by family, who hadn't heard from her all weekend, her remains were found near a wooded area in the 1800 block of Wagner Avenue. Found near Wagner Avenue, in a report by WIBC, the victim had sustained a gunshot wound. The case rapidly evolved when detectives, leveraging community assistance, identified Valadez as a person of interest.
Further investigation by police, including witness interviews and security camera footage analysis, pointed to Valadez as a prime suspect. Valadez, who police believe gave Dixon a ride shortly before the homicide occurred, was interviewed by detectives and subsequently charged. FOX59 reports that Valadez was taken into custody on Tuesday morning, with confirmation from jail records of his booking on a preliminary murder charge. The motive is still under investigation. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office awaits the final decision on charging Valadez.
