Davidson County authorities are investigating two separate fatal overnight crashes, one occurrence was on I-24 and another on Hicks Road in Bellevue. According to WKRN's report, the I-24 incident happened just before midnight in Joelton when a large vehicle towing a trailer began swaying. The driver subsequently lost control, drove off the roadway, and the vehicle overturned.
"Officers at the scene told News 2 a large vehicle towing a trailer began to sway," WKRN stated. The unfortunate consequence led to the driver's death and left a female passenger with injuries requiring hospitalization. In addition, four dogs in the vehicle also perished in the accident. As a result of the crash and the subsequent investigation, the eastbound lanes of I-24 were closed overnight.
Following this tragedy, there was another deadly crash. This accident occurred just after 1 a.m. on Hicks Road in Bellevue, where a single vehicle reportedly ran off the road, resulting in at least one casualty. The investigations of both incidents were still active as of Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) worked through the night to manage the aftermath on the interstate. All eastbound lanes that were shut down due to the crash have since been reopened, as noted by an update from WSMV. Additionally, the Tennessee Department of Transportation confirmed that crews were focused on clearing debris from the crash site on I-24 near mile marker 35 in Davidson Co.
