The urgent call to the OSHP Canton Post Dispatchers led Trooper Justin Smith to act swiftly, venturing onto the highway to save the kitten. According to body camera footage cited by WHIO, Smith managed to contain the feline safely using a safety vest. The kitten's plight ended with a ride in the patrol cruiser away from the imminent danger of the rushing vehicles.
Following the daring roadside rescue, the kitten received necessary medical care at the Stark County Veterinary Emergency Clinic. This act of kindness ensured the fragile creature was treated for its injuries and provided a chance to begin recovering quickly.
The kitten's saga has since taken a hopeful turn. It is now residing at the Stark County Humane Society, where it waits to find a permanent home.
